Sleep

You lay determined
eyes shut;
Trying to escape this reality.
Until that escape
You make up some dreams
A limbo of sorts
That may or may not help
Transport you to that
Alternative reality that
Our physical fatigue so desires.

It comes sometimes, in heavy doses
Or sometimes very sparsely
But the times when it never came
Were more nightmarish than
Any dream ever could be.

Some fear sleep, while some craves.
He runs on caffeine,
She on sleep pills.
She lives for the limbo,
He runs from it.
He loves the busy-ness,
And She loved the peace.
